How can we move into a C-Suite role? What are the major changes in our work scope when that happens?

Just wrapped up an incredible workshop with the London Premier Center Singapore and was given the amazing opportunity to share such thoughts with the learner Ms. Kathy LY Kim Lan of Vietnam Furniture Resources Ltd. (VFR) (https://www.vfr.net.vn/). As Kathy transitions from Operations Director to COO, I shared some of the below:

01.

Move beyond KPIs: We dived deep into strategic planning, going beyond performance measurement and KPI setting. Instead of remaining at performance measurement level, it is important to translate operational tactics into a powerful 3-5 year vision, evolving into a 10-year roadmap for success.

02.

The Model, Bridging the gap: We explored the “strategy cascade model,” a framework to ensure every decision and action, from the strategy level to execution, needs aligns perfectly with organization’s long-term goals. This creates a powerful synergy between execution and strategic vision.

03.

Using new Management Toolkit: We introduced Kathy to a range of cutting-edge management tools, including: (i) Agile Manufacturing: Adapting to market shifts and customer demands with greater agility. (ii) Risk Management Model: Templates on Identifying and mitigating potential threats before they derail strategy. (iii) Digital Transformation & Change Management using Human-Centric Design: Incorporating customer needs and employee well-being into every business process improvement. (iv) DISC Model: Understanding personality styles (hers and her team’s) for better communication and collaboration.

Effective leadership isn’t just about numbers; it’s about people.

Congratulations, Ms. Kim Lan! I’m excited to see how you implement these strategies and tools to propel your organization to even greater heights. And to everyone else – are you ready to take your leadership to the next level?
